The Flannels Group was founded in 1976 by Neil Prosser. USA born who moved to the UK as a child.

In 1976, Prosser opened his first shop in Knutsford. It was there that he nurtured the concept of Total Quality Service and Quality Product; introducing a traditional English look using the best of British and Europeans labels.

The shop was small in size, but after four demanding and formative years its success enabled Prosser to open his second branch in Altrincham.

In 1987, he opened his third store in Manchester city centre, destined to become the ‘Flagship Store’.
New labels where introduced to the city for the first time such as Giorgio Armani, Canali, Paul Smith, CP Company and Stone Island to name but a few. Flannels were very much pioneers of the brands because so few retailers were selling them.

The Flannels Group now trade under the names Flannels, Life and Joseph; operating 13 stores in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff and Liverpool.

Flannels are now focusing on developing their own brand as well as expanding the existing business.
